In 2020, familiar words are accruing new meanings, old words are being used in new contexts, and new words/terms are cropping up.
This site—with contributions from the Carleton College community and beyond—seeks to capture how language is changing. Our hope is that this dynamic digital platform, unlike a static printed glossary, can offer a “glimpse into how language can quickly change in the face of unprecedented social and economic disruption” (R. Kreuz, How COVID-19 is changing the English language).
Help us build it by:
- Defining a new word
- Commenting on an existing word
- Sharing the site with others and spreading the word!
